This heartwarming play (based on fact) is
the story of a high school girl and a large family whose father (Frank Gilbreth),
a great pioneer of industry, chooses to apply his unorthodox methods for
learning to his children. "If it's good enough for big companies, it's
good enough for home." The results of this idea, while admittedly effective,
are terribly embarrassing for his older daughters, and very funny. But,
just maybe, Dad has his reasons!

Meredith Willson's The Music Man
Directed by Phil Newsome
PERFORMANCES
were April 1, 2, 3, 8 & 9, 2005

A classic since its
opening in 1957, The Music Man tells the story of a traveling
conman named Professor Harold Hill in 1912 as he goes to River City, Iowa,
supposedly to start a children's band. We soon find out that he can't read
a lick of music but that he can really sell musical instruments and band
uniforms. Only after Marian, the town librarian, discovers his secret does
the plot thicken. Featuring classic songs such as "Till There Was You,"
"Gary, Indiana" and "Seventy-Six Trombones," Meredith
Willson's The Music Man is the all-American salute to music,
romance, and the small Midwestern town.
